The recent request by the Ministry of Health for Expressions of Interest (EoI) in transforming primary health care services has generated a lot of effort in recent weeks on the part of many in the sector. Is this productive, or just 'wheel spinning'?
Given there's no actual pot of dollars at the end of this particular rainbow, one wonders what exactly it is that has so mesmerized us. Is it that we think we'll be left behind? Do we not trust that existing setttings, contracts and funding streams will persist for those not successful with their EoI? Or is it that we genuinely think being selected as a first wave EoI applicant is an opportunity not to be missed?
